Twists on a Tried and Tested Route
Today's Wednesday Wobble consisted of Andy, Tony and Ivan as we took on a 15 mile trip around the Hertfordshire countryside.
A few variations were tested out, some just to mix things up a bit and other trails to test the suitabilty of riding a bike through them! A shortcut through the golf course meant we were faced with deep thick mud that the recent warmer weather hadn't been able to shift. We kept the pressure on the pedals and momentum was our friend as we ploughed through.
Now our bikes and legs were dirty there was no stopping us. Well two horses stopped us on the way past Heartwood Forest as Andy all but disappeared though a hedge. Who was more scared, Andy or the horse? Difficult to say.
Up through Sandridge and the executive decision was made to take on a technical loop that we had taken on last year. A couple of challenges were encountered as we ducked and weaved round the narrow trail. All 3 came out unscathed and all remained on our bikes.
We headed back to Harpenden via Nomansland and the Oval Café was calling. The 15 miles had made us thirsty and somewhat hungry and coffee and cakes were demolished accordingly.
We said our goodbyes as Tony headed off for his c 12 miles cycle home. A lovely morning in long awaited dry and somewhat warm and sunny weather. A taste of what's to come on our imminent Normandy trip we hope!
