Prostate Pedallers Blog

Pedallers at Large

The resident blogger may have been a bit quiet of late but that doesn't mean that the Pedallers have been resting on their laurels! Things have been as busy as ever with walks and bike rides aplenty.

The cold weather can't stop a hardy Pedaller and the last part of January saw some of our group head off on a frosty five mile walk around Ashridge Forest. The Wednesday Wobblers also managed an outing in January. Down the Nickey line they went albeit in slightly warmer temperatures - a perfectly short round trip to help Pedallers who are recovering from treatment and getting their fitness back.

February saw a seven strong group complete a 24 mile road trip from Ashridge to the Chiltern Velo at Hawridge. With an elevation gain of 1,576 ft this was a top effort all round. The following week saw the bikes being abandoned due to tricky weather and an eight mile hike was organised around the Ashridge estate. Back on the bikes the week after with Ivan planning a circular route around Ashridge on roads and tracks.

One thing all these activities had in common; a cup of coffee, a slice of cake or a bacon bap and a really good chat. We always have so much to catch up on with PSA tests and treatment updates. It's not all talk about PCa of course and we laugh and joke and put the world to rights. The Pedallers can really help to remove feelings of isolation and fear as well as helping with processing a diagnosis and / or prognosis. Get in touch - you really won't regret it.
