Pedallers at Large in France
Our annual trip abroad was upon us and France was again the chosen destination.
The 15 strong crew met up at Portsmouth to catch the ferry to Cherbourg. This year our end point was Saint Malo, 156 miles away down the west coast of France.
Rain tried to stop us as we cycled off the ferry but the Pedallers are tough and as the weather dried out so did we.
The first 50 or so miles threw up a few challenges but with a bit of determination and Osca in our back up vehicle we made it to our lodgings.
Varied terrain again on the following day saw some steep climbs up trails and long sweeping roads back down. The French countryside threw up the usual beautiful views and little villages and towns. Another 52 miles were navigated.
The final 50 miles took us west along to Saint Malo. A serious climb up to our hotel left us needing beers and then dinner in the town with the evening award ceremony celebrating our Dog House, Butcher’s Dog and Top Dog winners!
Our ferry back in the club lounge was superb with food and drink in abundance. We docked at 6pm with more amazing memories of another great trip. A superb effort all round from the team. Here’s to the next one!!
P.S. Another special mention to Sharon at Norton Rosettes who, for the second year, very kindly made and donated the rosettes for us. Thanks so much for your generous support - it is really appreciated!
