Pedallers Tour Hertfordshire
Today saw 6 Pedallers head off from Highfield Oval on a beautiful sunny Autumn morning. A 30 mile loop lay ahead which would take the team, Andy, Paul, Tony, Michael, Mike and Marko, via St Albans, Hatfield, Welwyn and Wheathampstead.
Stunning views were appreciated as we cruised down through Rothamsted Park and then up through Childwickbury. The tree tunnel bridleway and single track led us down past Batchwood golf course as we wound our way through St Albans. We rode through Verulam Park and then made it onto the Alban Way, the disused railway line, which would take us all the way to Hatfield.
A few stop offs for catch ups, regrouping and of course Prostate Pedaller Pee Comfort Breaks were had and the mainly off road route made for a very social ride. We all managed to navigate the many dog walkers, families and other cylclists on the way - so many people out making the most of the lovely sun and rising temperature.
We cycled through the centre of Welwyn and then headed towards the Ayots as we picked up the next old railway line which took us all the way back to Wheathampstead. Heading into Harpenden via Cherry Tree Lane, a sharp left was taken as we took on the final hill back up to the Oval.
With around 30 miles under our belts, we sat out in the sun with our coffees and cakes!
A great ride and great company. Top effort all round.
