Exciting Times for the Pedallers
Life is rarely dull for a Prostate Pedaller and this Spring has offered up rides to both new and old destinations, lots of meet ups, plenty of coffee and cakes and also a fair amount of planning.
We recently tested out our stunning gazebo in preparation for our attendance at the Bedford Motoring and Kite Festival on 21st and 22nd June. This is an incredible event that can attract as many as 30,000 people over the weekend and provides us with a great platform to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer and recruit new members. We are also always looking to start new groups in new areas. We will also be attending the Fete du Velo at Redbourn on Sunday 6th July so come along and say hello.
We have also been very busy planning our annual trip to France. Following last year's fantastic trip down the Normandy beaches to Caen, this year we are cycling 150 miles down the West coast from Cherbourg to Saint Malo. With a couple of stop offs on the way it promises to be full of laughs, great French cuisine and of course some lovely French wine! And let's not forget the stunning scenery and coast line that the area offers.
The group has been meeting up regularly and cycling old and new routes. Early May saw the Pedallers ride through Ashridge Forest with bluebells and sunshine with a few technical trails thrown in for good measure. Other rides in fantastic weather included 28 miles of mountain biking from Whipsnade to the Harpenden Oval Café and back, loops via Symondshyde and visits to Emily's Tea Shop to sample their superb home-made tomato and basil soup and cakes!
There is plenty more to see and do in preparation for our Saint Malo trip and we will be turning the pedals at every available opportunity. Vive le Pedallers!
