Awesome Autumn Ride
October normally offers up deep gloopy mud off road. This year is different and the lack of rain has meant the ground is rock hard which opens up even the muddiest of forests and trails. So, with this in mind, an off road ride was planned taking the Pedallers on a tried and tested route.
Out of Harpenden via the Nickey Line and Rothamsted Park, up through the Common golf course and down through Heartwood Forest. Still not a drop of mud in sight! Crossing through Sandridge and heading up through Symondshyde Wood where thick October mud is usually guaranteed. However, not even soft trails were on show. Our wheels crunched over the acorns and falling leaves (almost poetic right?!) as we wound our way down the Symondshyde trail. Definitely one of our favourites.
A long steady climb brought us to Hammonds End Farm and onto Nomansland and Harpenden. Coffee, cake and two other Pedallers were waiting for us at The Oval Café. Welcomes don't get much better!
A great 18 mile ride and catch up with fellow Pedallers.
