Ashridge to Chiltern Velo Circular Route
For a change, road bikes were the mode of transport yesterday and the weather was perfect for the ride.
Seven pedallers took part in a 30-mile circular route starting and ending at Ashridge House. The route took us through the wonderfully named Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire villages of Gubblecote, Astrope, Nettleden and Cholesbury.
It included several big climbs including Gravel Hill in Berkhampstead and the cyclists fabled Hastoe Hill. We stopped off at the Chiltern Velo for a well-earned cup of coffee and enjoyed the Spring sunshine and wonderful views. The daffodils and the tulips looked splendid.
Our rides are never without drama with one of the team managing to get a puncture in both tyres. A lesson learnt – carry spare inner tubes. Working together we were able to get him up and running without too much bother and so we all completed the course.
Well done to all.
